Another Chicago House Legend from the 80′s has to be Sterling Void, who in 1987 wrote and produced the club anthem “It’s Alright” with Paris Brightledge on Vocals. The majority of the lyrics still hold truth today and will do in many years to come even when we have left this earth and future generations pick up the pieces, this is soulful house music at its finest. The message of love, peace and unison were so prevalent in early house tracks, and for many this was an escapism from the depression and reality of the circumstance in the 80′s. Particularly documented on the black gay scene where not only you were discriminated against the colour of your skin, but also your sexual preference. A good film to watch is Paris is Burning, which is a documentary that follows the predominantly Gay Black drag scene in New York which birthed the Vogue style of dancing as a form of expression in the dance hall competitions known as balls.

Mr Sterling Void I am honoured that you have commented on my post …. yes school boy error on my behalf by copying the credits from the source of the link instead of looking at my 12″.
Are you still producing? where can I direct people to buy your music
I see you have a new site launching soon…let me know when it launches and I will spread the word xx
Its Alright is one of those tracks that just meant so much to me and my mates at the time. Still put it on and dance around the living room. Nice one for putting the album up. I bet Sterling never thought when he made the track in Chicago he’d be moving kids in a basement club thousands of miles away in Dublin Ireland so much. Love it!
Its All Right. Apoligies.
you are safe …there are no grammar Nazi’s in the house of Acid ….otherwise I would have been killed off years ago
But yep…it’s amazing how quickly this music spread and reached all areas of the Globe … Have you read the book Altered States? I am just reading it now….traces the routes of Acid House culture in some finer detail…only a few chapters in and hooked already.
Read it and re- read it many times. Have you read Adventures in Wonderland? Sheryl Garrett from The Face wrote it. Thats brilliant. Energy Flash by Simon Reynolds is a classic also. Bit more cerebral but still wicked. Comes with an old school hardcore CD. Both are a great insight in to the whole scene.
I will put Sheryl Garret on the shopping list, was not aware of that book ..yes also Simon Reynolds too …been meaning to read that for some time. ..cheers for the recommendations.
Both great! Stay safe. Talk to ya.
Hey guys, love the blog! I’m a producer, remixer, and artist from Toronto, Canada, and I just wanted you to know that Sterling Void and myself have collaborated on a monster vocal house tune! You can hear it
