Firstly I would like to say a massive thank you to all the readers who visit the blog
The Acid House website has been running for over 11 years now, started back in 1999 when I bought my first multimedia computer with a 56k Modem and had a 1p per minute internet account. I was curious to know how websites worked, so after registering the domain name and using the 10mb of free webspace with my internet account I set about using Frontpage and created theacidhouse, with an archive of scanned flyers from my own collection, and audio rips from my records and uploaded using that rubbish old format Real Audio, remember them?
I guess the web technology moved on quicker than I could keep up with web design, so in 2007 I switched The Acid House to blog status for ease of use and using file sharing apps I have been able to provide some excellent high quality mp3.
I am proud that I have been providing old skool beats for over 11 years and reuniting many people with music that was not that easily accessible back in the day, and introducing a new generation of listeners to a music that was part of a major movement in British youth culture and worldwide for that matter. Most tunes that have been available on The Acid House are either white labels that never got a release, music from labels that closed their doors years back and are no longer running, so not to cause offence to any labels that are still operating.
However, I would like to make the blog a better user experience by doing the following
Upgrading the mediafire account to allow direct linking to tunes uploaded to the account (Removes adverts and pop ups)
Upgrade wordpress account to disable advertising on the blog or move blog to a wordpress host to enable more html functions and streaming widgets.
This is where you readers come in, I have never asked for donations before but if you can spare some small change even if it is £1 so I can hit a target of about £20 per month, then I can enable these upgrades and offer you a better user experience.
All donations will be truly appreciated no matter how big or small
If there is any money left over in the pot at the end of the year this will go to charity…I will do a poll on the charities, the most votes gets the dosh.

why don’t you just put some adsense on the site?
Only relevant ads would show and you’d get £20+ a month for sure.

I am 99% sure it is not possible to put adsense on a site hosted at wordpress ……. if I was on a web hosted package then yes I could do that…..I will look into that as an option…… but i would prefer to keep the blog ad free in all honesty……. i think we all get bombarded with too much adverstising….and am not that comfortable with that idea to be honest..

Thanks Pete..much appreciated… Well I have done several things with the donations … Bought the Mediafire upgrade, so you should get instant downloads on files that I have uploaded…(there are some mediafire tunes that were not uploaded by me, so they may still have ads), also moved the Site to a Hosted package, which means I have uploaded lots of mixes and tunes to this without the need for mediafire so much (usually there is a an audio player present for mp3 files, but in the last two weeks wordpress updated their software, and that player is not compatible yet, just means you cannot preview tunes, but can still right hand mouse click “save as”. So any penny helps for the running costs, it means a lot to me when people take the time to leave a comments or two and donate…so thanks again
